Learn more at www.hbfuller.com. Position Overview The Technical Specialist I is an application and product expert supporting H.B. Fuller’s roofing adhesives and application equipment within an assigned territory. This role partners with distribution partners, roofing contractors, equipment manufacturers, and system manufacturers to deliver technical support, training, and demonstrations. The position focuses on foundational technical ownership while developing deeper expertise through mentorship and hands‑on application experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and or equivalent work experience
  • 1–5 years of experience in technical service, applications, construction materials, roofing, or related industries
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic application and equipment issues with guidance
  • Willingness to travel 30–40%, including approximately 5 overnight stays per month
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company‑provided vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting roofing systems, adhesives, or construction materials
  • Familiarity with application equipment, manufacturing processes, or field audits
  • Experience delivering customer training or conducting product demonstrations
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with contractors and distributors

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource for H.B. Fuller roofing products, applications, and application equipment within the assigned territory.
  • Call on distributors, roofing contractors, equipment manufacturers, and roofing system manufacturers (e.g., Johns Manville, Firestone/Amerize, sarnafil, etc).
  • Provide onsite and remote support including product start‑ups, application troubleshooting, and ongoing technical assistance.
  • Conduct customer training on product specifications, application methods, equipment usage, and best practices.
  • Support trade shows, distributor events, and contractor engagement activities alongside sales partners.
  • Apply application and equipment expertise to identify unmet customer needs, investigate claims, and recommend process or product improvements based on data‑driven conclusions.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, document results, and communicate outcomes to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify market trends, application challenges, and innovation opportunities; communicate insights to Sales, Marketing, and R&D.
  • Support new product launches through training, field trials, and customer feedback collection.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety guidelines, industry regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
