As a Roofing Apprentice, you will assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial roofing systems under the guidance of experienced roofing technicians. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in developing a career in the roofing trade. A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior construction or roofing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of roofing tools, equipment, and safety practices.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Team player attitude is a must.
  • Ability to climb a 40-foot ladder and lift heavy objects.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Roofing Installation and Repair: Support the installation and repair of commercial roofing systems, including tile, foam, hot, built-up, and single-ply roofing (TPO, PVC, EPDM). Help prepare the work area by removing debris, old roofing materials, and cleaning the roof surface. Assist in the application of roofing materials such as insulation, membranes, flashings, and shingles, under the direction of senior crew members. Participate in waterproofing and sealing tasks to protect the integrity of the roofing system.
  • Safety and Worksite Maintenance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment. Follow industry best practices and company standards to deliver high-quality roofing installations and repairs. Help maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and materials. Alert supervisors to any hazards or safety concerns immediately. Comply with company safety policies and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
  • Team Support and Communication: Work closely with roofing technicians and crew leaders to complete daily tasks and meet project goals. Listen actively and follow instructions to ensure tasks are completed correctly and safely. Communicate clearly with team members about needs, questions, or challenges on the job site.
  • Learning and Development: Attend on-the-job training to develop skills in roofing installation, repair, safety, and tools. Show initiative in learning about roofing materials, equipment usage, and industry standards. Demonstrate continuous improvement and readiness to take on more responsibilities over time.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Handle additional responsibilities and projects, as assigned.
