About The Position

Talk With Me Baby TWMB is a nursing-driven initiative designed to equip parents with the knowledge and skills they need to ensure their children are on a path to literacy by the end of third grade. Nurses and support staff are trained to integrate language nutrition education and coaching and documentation into each interaction they have with families and caregivers throughout the perinatal, neonatal, and pediatric ecosystem. Language nutrition refers to the quality of language and responsive interactions young children need to promote early brain and language development, leading to literacy and long-term health. Position Summary: The Talk With Me Baby Nurse Navigator reports to the Director of Partnerships at the Rollins Center. The TWMB Nurse Navigator will initially have a dual reporting relationship with Rollins and the TWMB team at Grady, and will transition to full-time work with other hospital partners as those services ramp up. While at Grady, the Nurse Navigator will gain on-the-job experience working alongside Grady’s Nurse Navigators to fully orient to the role, including staff training and coaching, direct patient/family coaching, and clinical and non-clinical staff training and coaching, as well as quality improvement activities that include data collection, analysis, and action planning. Experience will be gained throughout the Grady Health System, in perinatal, neonatal, and pediatric practices. With Rollins Center: The Nurse Navigator will work alongside the Family Engagement Facilitator to support TWMB implementation and continuous improvement across Women and Infant Health Services in the Grady Health System. Central to this work is ensuring every baby leaves the hospital with family members and caregivers who are coached and prepared to provide language nutrition, changing the standard of care. With New Partner Hospitals: The Nurse Navigator is responsible for supporting the planning, training, implementation, and ongoing guidance for TWMB implementation, following the Integration Guide at partner hospitals. The Nurse Navigator works side-by-side with the Rollins Center Director of Partnership, the Rollins Center Implementation Facilitator, and the partner hospital TWMB Integration Team.
