About The Position

The Rolling Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining rolling equipment used to form, shape, and bend metal components utilized in petrochemical manufacturing operations. This position ensures production activities meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements while supporting production efficiency and reliability. Location and Reporting This position is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma; however, periodic travel may be required to support business operations and project needs. The position reports directly to the Shop Foreman Department: Production

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating rolling machines or related metal forming equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of metal forming processes and measurement techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver materials up to ___ lbs.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments with noise, vibration, and heavy materials while wearing required PPE.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Technical or vocational training in fabrication, machining, or manufacturing technology.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate plate rolling machines, angle rolling machines, or other rolling equipment used to form metal materials into cylindrical, curved, or contoured shapes.
  • Configure rollers, guides, and supports according to work order specifications and material requirements.
  • Load, position, and secure metal plates, sheets, or structural components using lifting equipment and positioning tools.
  • Adjust rolling pressure, feed rates, and alignment settings to achieve proper material shaping.
  • Monitor rolling operations to ensure consistency, dimensional accuracy, and material integrity.
  • Perform machine changeovers between production runs while minimizing downtime.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication prints, and production work orders.
  • Verify required dimensions including radius, diameter, curvature, thickness, and tolerances.
  • Understand material properties including metal elasticity, spring back, and structural limitations during rolling operations.
  • Coordinate with engineering and supervision to resolve discrepancies or clarify production requirements.
  • Inspect raw materials prior to rolling to ensure they meet quality and specification requirements.
  • Measure finished components using precision measuring tools such as radius gauges, tape measures, calipers, and templates.
  • Verify compliance with dimensional tolerances, shape specifications, and surface finish standards.
  • Identify and report defects such as warping, cracking, or improper curvature.
  • Maintain inspection records and production quality documentation.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of rolling equipment.
  • Inspect rollers, hydraulic systems, and control mechanisms for wear or damage.
  • Replace or adjust tooling components as necessary.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and notify maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with troubleshooting operational issues to maintain production continuity.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and petrochemical industry safety requirements.
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
  • Follow safe material handling procedures when moving heavy metal components.
  • Comply with lockout/tagout procedures during equipment servicing or maintenance.
  • Recognize and report workplace hazards, unsafe conditions, and near-miss incidents.
  • Participate in safety training and job hazard analyses.
  • Meet or exceed production quotas while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor workflow and minimize material waste and rework.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives including Lean manufacturing and 5S workplace organization.
  • Support production scheduling priorities and adjust workflow as directed by supervision.
  • Complete production records, inspection logs, and equipment maintenance documentation.
  • Communicate production progress, equipment concerns, and quality issues to supervisors and team members.
  • Participate in shift handoff communication to ensure operational continuity.
  • Maintain accurate work order tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas in accordance with company housekeeping standards.
  • Properly store materials, tooling, and equipment when not in use.
  • Dispose of scrap and waste materials according to company environmental and safety procedures.
  • Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
