About The Position

Your Day-to-Day Impact You'll play a vital role in our Roll Shop team by: Operating CNC lathes and mills to re-machine rolls and tooling. Disassembling and assembling roll stands, gearboxes, and hydraulic components. Performing mechanical rebuilds including bearing changes, hydraulic fitting replacements, and gearbox maintenance. Using hand and specialty tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, micrometers, calipers) to complete tasks with precision. Torch cutting and minor welding as needed. Cleaning, prepping, and maintaining tooling and work areas (5S standards). Accurately documenting measurements, diameters, and quality data per shop requirements. Communicating tooling issues or quality excursions to the mill team. Rotating through up to 7 different positions within the shop, gaining cross-functional experience. Participating in continuous improvement and safety initiatives. Supporting contractors (primarily millwrights) and collaborating closely with maintenance teams. What You Bring We're looking for candidates who are sharp, safety-focused, and ready to roll up their sleeves: General mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine shop environments. Experience with CNC lathe operations and basic programming preferred. Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow SOPs. Proficient in using measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators). Comfortable with hydraulic systems, bolts, fittings, and mechanical assemblies. Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and unit conversions. Ability to operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and motorized vehicles. Strong work ethic and willingness to train and grow within the role. High School Diploma or GED required. Technical degree or Machinist certification preferred.
