About The Position

The Roll Room Supervisor is responsible for all activities and operations of the Roll Room as part of the Corrugator Department. The supervisor must manage staffing and productivity to ensure the safety and efficiency of the production of corrugated material.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to read and follow written instructions.
  • Able to communicate effectively with team members and management.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurements, volume, and rates.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school mathematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to meet and understand quality standards
  • Ability to meet and understand product layouts and specifications
  • Ability to understand design capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
  • A current lift truck or clamp truck operator license is required.

  • regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry
  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment or power trucks, particularly in operating Clamp Trucks

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary safety rules and expectations are consistently followed and enforced across all three shifts of the Roll Room.
  • Report any quality concerns to the Corrugator Superintendent in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the production and efficiencies required to keep the Corrugator running efficiently in day-to-day operations, and communicate these standards to the department.
  • Manage the training process of new and current clamp truck operators in the Roll Room, including organizing and coordinating training with the Safety team as needed.
  • Manage the disciplinary process including meeting with the necessary employees, and issue documentation as needed for the department.
  • Communicate with Corrugator Supervisor and Superintendent about inventories of roll stock.
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may impact the performance of the department or facility.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Maintenance on any necessary repairs or preventative maintenance that the Roll Room, clamp trucks, and necessary equipment may require.
  • Establish high morale within your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure that all Roll Room employee timecards are completed accurately for each payroll.
  • Safely operate a clamp truck lift as required to maintain productivity and efficiency of the department.
  • Read corrugator lineups, mark butt rolls before returning to stock, and complete clamp truck inspections as needed.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations and good housekeeping.
  • Assist corrugator team as instructed by the superintendent.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
