About The Position

The position involves operating various machinery and equipment in a manufacturing setting, including a roll machine, manual welding equipment, and flame cutting equipment. The employee will be responsible for clocking in and out on each job, notifying supervisors of any quality or safety issues, and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships as a team member. The role requires adherence to safety and work rules, as well as maintaining departmental housekeeping standards. The employee may also be required to work in other departments as needed and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with one year of trades training and at least one year of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of material, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read & understand a tape measure.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
• Must possess good mechanical ability and the ability to perform basic calculations to operate welding and fabricating machines.
• Demonstrates ability to operate a welder, grinder, bandsaw, ironworker, overhead crane, torch, measuring devices and a variety of hand and power tools.
• Prior work record indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
• Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Use shop order to clock in and out on each job as it is run.
• Operate the roll machine by selecting the required settings depending on type and size of material and drawing requirements.
• Operate manual welding equipment to fuse metal together to hold seams in place for long seam welding.
• May be required to operate flame cutting equipment torches or plasma cutter.
• Notify supervisor of any quality or safety issues.
• Maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and function as a team member.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Work in other departments on an as-needed basis.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
