About The Position

The Roll-Off Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of businesses. The CDL Driver will collect waste from customer sites and transport to post-collection facilities for proper disposal. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.
  • Must meet all company criteria for safety-sensitive functions and demonstrate the ability to operate heavy equipment safely.
  • Deep understanding of truck components and basic maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to identify "unacceptable waste" (flammables, hazardous chemicals, etc.) before loading.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow complex instructions while providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs. repetitively.
  • Excellent depth perception and peripheral vision are required for constant maneuvering in high-traffic and tight-clearance areas.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate roll-off trucks to mechanically collect, exchange, or deliver containers to various customer sites and post-collection facilities.
  • Strictly adhere to all DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations. Follow safe operating practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) to ensure equipment integrity.
  • Perform comprehensive daily pre- and post-trip inspections. Maintain accurate DOT logbooks and vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to ensure your truck is always road-ready.
  • Expertly navigate trucks into and out of tight clearance spaces, utilizing mirrors and spatial awareness to back distances of 120+ feet safely.
  • Act as a professional representative of GFL. Clear any loose debris around containers to maintain a clean and safe environment for our customers and the public.
  • Use sight and sound to monitor equipment for loose debris or mechanical issues during loading and unloading.
