About The Position

Solid Waste Services of West Virginia, Inc. is a locally owned and operated private family-owned company that has been experiencing record growth and success. In 1964, it started with one truck and has grown into one of the largest and most successful fully integrated solid waste companies serving the mid-Atlantic area. The Proctor, WV division is looking for reliable, motivated, and hardworking Roll Off Drivers who play a critical role on the solid waste collection team to support ongoing success in a family-like company environment while safely and responsibly removing our communities' trash and recycling.

Requirements

  • A valid WV Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B or equivalent) with air brake endorsement.
  • Must meet all required DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a substance abuse screening.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customers and co-workers.
  • Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle.
  • Ability to sit in the cab of the truck for long periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and climb into and out of the vehicle unassisted multiple times a day.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy wheeled containers requiring heavy pushing/pulling force.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a front load trash truck in accordance with DOT Regulations, Company policy, and established standards for excellent customer service on established subscription routes or municipal territories.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the truck, as well as the helpers assigned to the truck.
  • Transport and dump municipal wastes at a regulated transfer station or approved landfill.
  • Coordinate regularly with the Route Supervisor, Dispatch or Operations Manager to ensure all stops are picked up and to receive any special instructions.
  • Obtain load weight tickets and sign for loads, maintaining any related records required.
  • Clean truck daily to ensure the vehicle meets company expectations.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as outlined in the pre and post-trip vehicle condition report.
  • Report any maintenance issues on the vehicle condition report and report it immediately to the route supervisor or operations manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
