About The Position

ROGUE DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING, Inc. a Waste Connections company is looking to hire a safety conscience CDL Route Driver to join the team! Work schedule: 4/10hr shifts. Starting around 5:30-6:30am Ending when the route is complete. Variable scheduled days off. Additional work on other days may be required as needed. Starting wage $28.73 DOE.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and practical skill to safely operate automated commercial waste collection equipment.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Oregon Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B with ability to obtain Class A.
  • 2 years of professional commercial driving experience.
  • Meets insurance company standards for 'good driving record'.
  • Computer and technology skills including Microsoft Office, tablet, smart phone.
  • English reading, writing, verbal and map reading skills.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of records and reports.
  • Verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Basic mathematics skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 65 pounds.
  • Ability to move heavy containers by pushing and pulling.
  • Mobility to climb in and out of vehicle, bend, twist, lift objects, and walk on all types of surfaces.
  • Ability to function in all types of weather conditions.
  • Knowledge and skill in ergonomically safe operational practices.
  • Knowledge and skill in hazardous material identification and handling practices.
  • Punctual and reliable in work attendance and job performance.
  • Ability to work independently and respond flexibly to changing routes and service demands.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating collection equipment for the efficient and effective collection of solid waste.
  • Delivering collected materials to a designated disposal facility.
  • Completing required administrative paperwork using an On-Board-Computer.
  • Delivering excellence in customer service at all times.
  • Cross training in Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks, Front Load Garbage Trucks, and Roll Off Trucks.
  • Operating hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of collected material.
  • Driving truck to collect waste prepared for collection in carts or containers.
  • Providing quality, uninterrupted waste collection service.
  • Assuring the efficiency of the collection process and customer satisfaction.
  • Reading route sheets and servicing each customer identified on the sheet.
  • Performing routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles.
  • Maintaining and submitting a daily service log using On-Board-Computer.
  • Completing daily reports on pre and post trip inspections of equipment.
  • Fuels vehicle daily and maintains the physical appearance of the equipment.
  • Assisting Leadman with customer improvements through service and equipment upgrades.
  • Monitoring over and under filled carts/containers to assess changing service requirements.
  • Providing technical support for design of enclosures and other space.
  • Participating in training and initiatives to improve service quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
