About The Position

The Rocky Mountain Development & Engagement Manager will be a key member of TU’s team across the Rocky Mountains, working with state directors and their conservation staff, and closely with the organization’s Development team to secure philanthropic support and drive engagement in TU’s mission. This position is available as a part-time or full-time role, with responsibilities and compensation adjusted accordingly. The role is currently a two-year term position with the potential for extension for a successful candidate. The role focuses on supporting donor circles, events, and engagement efforts for conservation programs across Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, grant writing, nonprofit administration, event coordination, or professional services, or a related field, ideally with a focus on partnerships and fundraising.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to independently develop and maintain relationships with staff and donors.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines (and drive others to meet deadlines), and deliver a high standard of performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with the ability to manage and update spreadsheets and cross-reference data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments, while maintaining focus on regional and state program development goals.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving problems.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, follow through, and follow up.
  • Basic research skills to identify and qualify donor prospects.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within the Rocky Mountain region for events or meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in or with nonprofit organizations, particularly in conservation or environmental sectors, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., NetFORUM, Salesforce) or donor databases is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Donor Circle Coordination and Management: Assist state directors in organizing and managing emergent and long-standing donor circles in specific geographies (e.g., Jackson, WY; Santa Fe, NM; Park City, UT). Manage the administrative aspects of up to five donor circles at various levels of development (event planning and RSVP tracking, donor engagement, reporting, and overall organization).
  • Event and Site Visit Support: Organize donor events, including luncheons, dinners, fishing trips, and site visits to deepen relationships and showcase TU’s conservation impact. Facilitate communications before and after each event.
  • Communications and Reporting Support: Support internal teams to compile data and written descriptions for grant and funding agreement reports, pitch decks, newsletters, and web content. Coordinate the procurement and distribution of donor gifts and swag.
  • Finance and Data Management: Support the Development team in maintaining accurate records in TU’s CRM. Manage the pledge and renewal process for donor circles (i.e., draft, send, and track pledges and renewals in close coordination with state directors, with a focus on the donor's experience). Support the Finance and Accounting team in reconciling and tracking revenue and managing financial records.
  • Engagement Support: Support Rocky Mountain Directors and VPs by planning and facilitating donor cultivation and stewardship touchpoints and engagement throughout the year. Be a key partner to the Rocky Mountain VP and state directors in planning and achieving programmatic fundraising goals.
