About The Position

The Rock Wall Instructor position at Equinox involves testing and assessing the climbing, belaying, and safety skills of prospective instructors. The role requires providing belaying training to staff, evaluating potential hires, and shadowing new instructors to ensure compliance with safety standards. In addition, the instructor will set climbing routes for various skill levels at Sports Club NY and E61st climbing walls, assist in cleaning the climbing wall, and uphold safety standards for all equipment used. A positive work attitude and teamwork are essential for this role.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in a commercial climbing gym
• Belay certification
• Passionate about climbing
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on current climbing trends and equipment
• Ability to climb/belay
• Ability to lift on average 50 lbs. daily
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Work-at-Height Certification
• Active CPR/AED Certification

Responsibilities
