About The Position

Essential Job Functions: Develop level-specific curriculums focused on a specific sequence of activities: breathing techniques, proper stretching (dynamic and static), proper warm-up, balance challenges, voice activation, boxing-specific circuit training, hydration, cool-down, etc. Create and demonstrate workout activities to local groups to promote RSB in your community. Administer required assessments and track boxer progress within recommended timeframes. Develop virtual and in-person class schedules to accommodate the needs of the boxers. Identify and contact local Parkinson’s disease (PD) specific programs that offer services to residents with PD including voice therapy providers, therapy clinics, and neurologists serving those with PD. Contact and develop relationships with local groups such as Delay the Disease, Fall Proof, Big and Loud, The Climb, Rehabilitation Hospital of Indianapolis (RHI), and request and display flyers for promoting Rock Steady Boxing (RSB). Identify corresponding articles, seminars, and online classes on Parkinson’s disease (PD) and related conditions. Learn the process and course of progression of PD through continuing education. Learn and understand its symptoms, study common PD medications and their purpose(s), side effect(s), and possible effect(s) on trainer-specific concerns such as dehydration, dizziness, cognitive response or behavioral changes (due to the disease itself or medication). Continue education related to PD by attending workshops and seminars, as necessary. Track participation for classes and in facility overall. Prepare the gym before each class. Set up equipment based off of the daily curriculum and assist boxers as they prepare for class. Manage inventory and replenish when needed. Oversee volunteers and students, and assist them as needed when they are volunteering and/or observing a class. Attend RSB-related special events and participate in community events which feature RSB. Partner with the Regional Sales Director and create a marketing strategy for RSB. Review and resolve complaints and grievances related to RSB and communicate to the Executive Director of action(s) taken. Ensure clean and safe operating conditions in accordance with applicable regulations and standards by maintaining the fitness center and equipment. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Critical Skills: Be able to make independent decisions and follow instructions. Deal tactfully with personnel, prospects, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public. Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility. Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families. Education and Experience: Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position. Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field preferred or a minimum or two years of industry related work experience required. Must be willing to attend a Rock Steady Boxing coaches certification training (virtual or in person). Working knowledge of physical and cognitive disabilities. Knowledge of PD preferred. Certifications in personal training and/or exercise sport science preferred. Fluent in English, verbal and written Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have any direct reports or supervisory requirements, however will oversee volunteers and students when they are visiting the community. Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Physical Requirements - The Physical activities of this position involve: Must be able to lift 30 lbs. at times Alternating between standing and sitting Push/Pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally May be crouching or kneeling at times Cognitive Requirements - The Cognitive activities with or without prosthetics of this position are: Executes tasks independently Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively General computer literacy Environmental Requirements - An individual in this position may be exposed to: Ambient room temperatures, lighting and fitness equipment as found in a typical fitness setting Other Requirements: Available to work evenings or weekends as needed Working Conditions: While performing the duties of the job, the employee may work in indoor and outdoor weather conditions (e.g., if there is a barbeque).
