The Robotics Software Engineer will work in Redmond, WA, focusing on the integration of hardware and software systems for robotics. This role involves collaborating with research scientists and engineers to implement advanced control algorithms on real robot hardware and simulation environments. The engineer will conduct evaluations of robotic systems, communicate complex features to stakeholders, and perform experiments to debug and support part fabrication. Additionally, the role includes hands-on assembly of robots and conducting failure analysis through testing and data analysis.

  • Collaborate with research scientists and engineers to design and implement hardware-software system integration enabling state-of-the-art control algorithms and models on real robot hardware and simulation environments.
  • Design and conduct thorough evaluations of real-world robotic/mechatronics systems, identifying limitations, and proposing improvements to enhance their performance and robustness.
  • Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail to diverse stakeholders.
  • Perform experiments of real and simulation robotic/automation systems and debug the supporting parts manufacture, working with internal and external partners to support part fabrication and complex custom sub assembly.
  • Hands-on partnership in the lab integrating research with construction of sub-assemblies into full system-level robot prototypes.
  • Build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions.
  • Develop communication firmware software.
  • Research and develop characterization/training sensors and calibration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years experience in Robotics, Electro-Mechanical Design, Sensor & Communications, or a similar field.
  • Proficiency in ROS 1 & 2 (Robot Operating System) framework.
  • Proficient in C++ or Python programming.
  • Experience with organizational and analytical skills, driving technical strategy and execution in a fast-paced, high ambiguity environment.
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Experience in Machine Learning tools.
  • Experience with simulation tools conducting Finite element analysis: Structural, Modal.
  • Experience with automation equipment design and custom machine builds.
