The system engineer is a key member of the Amazon Robotics deployment team overseeing the installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment within new and existing fulfillment centers. This field engineering-based role requires strong technical skills related to the deployment of robotic equipment including work with mechanical, electrical, networking, and software systems during a deployment. Candidates should have prior experience working with complex electro-mechanical and networked systems as well as experience leading the installation, maintenance, upgrades, or troubleshooting of these systems. System engineers will work with a team of 1-5 engineers alongside an on-site project manager to provide technical oversight on the installation of both third party and Amazon designed robotics equipment. The deployments involve extensive collaboration with third party installers and contracted engineers, construction, hardware, software, IT, and many other partner teams – communication skills with both internal and external partners and customers are a must. As an Amazonian the candidate will be expected to be able to show independent initiative to identify and solve problems in real time during a project and drive continuous improvement projects forward to avoid recurrences. This systems engineer position is considered a leadership role within the on site deployment teams, and candidates should have a proven track record of leading work scopes and decision making.
