About The Position

JLG began in 1969, when our founder, John L. Grove set out to resolve growing safety concerns in the construction industry. We partner with customers to provide quality equipment, training opportunities and trusted support within the access industry. We are a global company, and our products—including mobile elevating work platforms, telehandlers, utility vehicles and accessories—can be found all over the world. JLG is seeking a motivated high school student interested in robotics, automation, and manufacturing processes to join the Robotics Programming team as an apprentice. This hands-on opportunity provides real-world experience in robotic programming, process optimization, and industrial automation within a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Logical, problem-solving mindset with strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of robotics, welding, and industrial automation.
  • Interest in robotics programming, automation, or a related engineering field—preferably planning to attend college, trade school, or enter the workforce in a robotics or automation role.

Responsibilities

  • Robotics Programming & Troubleshooting: Shadow robotics programmers to learn how to create, test, and optimize robotic programs using simulation software.
  • Process Analysis & Improvement: Conduct time studies, process mapping, and layout assessments to enhance fabrication and robotic operations.
  • Safety & Quality Enhancements: Identify and implement tools and strategies to improve workplace safety and product quality.
  • Standard Work Instructions (SWI): Assist in updating SWI documentation to reflect process improvements.
  • Software Proficiency: Gain experience in 2D/3D modeling software (AutoCAD, Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, etc.) and utilize Microsoft Office tools for data analysis and reporting.
