The Tesla Robotics Team designs and builds humanoid bi-pedal robots (Optimus) to perform tasks that are boring, repetitive, and dangerous for humans. The team joins mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team. We are seeking talented Mechanical Design Engineers to play a role in building this ambitious vision into reality. There will be an emphasis on creative problem-solving abilities and technical rigor for this role. Lead mechanical system integration across the full robot, performing compatibility checks throughout development process and tracking impacts from design changes Support requirement definition including functionality, manufacturing, and cosmetics; continuously evaluating impacts of design changes Support and execute virtual builds, development bucks, physical prototypes, and pre-series production validation Manage top-level product BOM and kinematic models, ensuring CAD completeness and compatibility Create and maintain URDF models to translate CAD into accurate virtual representation for simulation and software control; verify accuracy against real hardware Perform 3D dimensional analysis to predict and control the effects of manufacturing variation on precision and kinematics of bot Lead the mechanical design for motion tracking hardware
