About The Position

Amentum, NASA's largest engineering solutions provider, is seeking a Robotics Intern to join the Science Integration team. This role supports payload integration and testing for a mobile robotics deployment at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The position is offered exclusively in-person and onsite and is a temporary role not to exceed 14 weeks. The intern will contribute to human space exploration and understanding the origins of the universe by working with a diverse team to deliver systems enabling space exploration and benefiting Earth.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited university
Completed at least 45 credit hours
Minimum of 2.8 GPA
BS/MS/PhD student in an engineering field
Comfortable with assembly and testing of small electronic components
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Nice To Haves

Experience with robotics, rovers, instrument sensors
Experience with image analysis and/or photogrammetry
Experience with CAD analysis
Familiarity with data fusion techniques

Responsibilities

Perform calibration and testing of various sensor payloads to be integrated on a mobile robotics platform, including stereo cameras, GPS, IMU, and environmental sensors
Combine data from various sensor streams to derive scientific insights about terrain and surroundings
Perform small-scale field tests in and around JSC
Develop interfaces and/or visualizations to communicate real-time insights to operators
