About The Position

Inside the Role The Automation Engineer applies technical knowledge to design, develop, and maintain automated systems that improve safety, quality, reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing operations. This role provides technical direction for system design, repair, and maintenance, and supports plant initiatives and capital automation projects. What You Drive at DTNA Support implementation of plant-specific automation initiatives and programs. Plan and execute facility-related capital automation projects on time and within budget. Maintain and ensure operation of the Automation Network and vSphere Server Farm. Manage PLC, drives, and HMI backups; ensure compliance with corporate standards. Vet automation-related software for Daimler compliance. Maintain and archive machine and system schematics and drawings. Provide training for technicians and maintain personal expertise in automation and networking topics. Stay current on advances in control strategies and automation technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs, including migration, safety, and integration with robotics.
  • Experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE/ME.
  • Automation network design and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
