Overview: The Robotics & Controls Intern will join the wider Robotics & Controls team. We are a group of highly motivated roboticists working on development of algorithms and productions level software that live at the heart of a complex robotic surgical system for medical applications. We work in a variety of exciting robotic functions including but not limited to kinematic and dynamic analysis, motion generation, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), signal processing, control algorithms, system response characterization, performance and detailed software development.

Requirements

  • In depth understanding of signal processing, real-time filtering, dynamic system modeling, and sensor/actuator interfacing for embedded platforms.
  • Familiarity with classical machine learning techniques focusing on classification models to noisy, real-world sensor data.
  • Excellent communication and documentation
  • Currently enrolled in Masters or PhD (PhD preferred) program at an accredited University or College program throughout the entire duration of the internship.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher and be available to work the hours agreed upon with the hiring manager.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity working with large codebases and have a good understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g. object-oriented design and data structures in UNIX environments)
  • Strong programming experience in Python and/or Matlab.
  • Familiarity with C++ is expected

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and test algorithms for sophisticated robotic systems
  • Actively participate in algorithmic, control, mechanical design discussions and code reviews
  • Develop Python software for real-time, safety critical applications
