As the Robotics and Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for robotic and related automation manufacturing processes within the Auburn manufacturing facility. It is a cross-functional position that leverages data to improve process performance and solve problems related to machine and process health and reliability. In this role, you will perform standard operational and technical tasks in accordance with established instructions and routines and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address day-to-day manufacturing challenges. You will troubleshoot and resolve process and product issues through both immediate corrective actions and longer-term improvement plans. This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a technical skillset)
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/strong grasp of robotics, controls, and basic manufacturing processes (kinematics, sensors, actuators, PLCs, or similar); experience with Fanuc robotics and controls a plus
  • Analytical mindset with ability/experience to break down complex issues, use data, and follow a structured approach to troubleshooting; ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools
  • Experience in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes
  • Production shop floor manufacturing experience within a regulated environment with a strong education background and aptitude and desire to learn from experienced personnel
  • High sense of urgency, bias for action with customer-service mindset, and able to effectively contribute to a high performing team
  • Dependable, punctual, and respectful; maintains composure under pressure and during production issues

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on shop floor support to assigned robotic and automation processes to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives, actively engaging and incorporating input from a self-directed workforce and senior process engineers
  • Ensure reliable operation of robotic and automation systems through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and continuous improvement activities to minimize downtime and performance losses
  • Use process performance data to drive improvement, identifying and implementing changes that improve process quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs
  • Perform structured root cause analysis of equipment and process failures, developing and implementing timely, effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Support production teams in resolving process issues, partnering with product owners, quality engineers, coaches and manufacturing associates to remove hindrances, and clearly explaining technical concepts to enable robust root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
  • Demonstrate ownership for assigned production areas, ensuring adherence to safety standards, product quality requirements, and delivery commitments
  • Develop and improve process documentation and tooling, including process plans, operating methods, control strategies, and the selection of tools, fixtures, and gages to ensure repeatable, compliant hardware; deliver process training as needed
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and operations teams to align on manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, capacity constraints, and other requirements that impact production
  • Foster a strong, team-oriented work ethic and customer focus, building positive internal and external relationships and promoting high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Act as a change agent for operational excellence, benchmarking best-in-class practices, staying current with industry developments, and leading or supporting initiatives that move the operation toward world-class performance
