About The Position

The Robotic Weld Programmer/Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and maintaining robotic welding systems used in the production of heavy-duty components. This role involves creating and optimizing welding programs, selecting appropriate welding parameters, and ensuring consistent weld quality in accordance with engineering specifications and industry standards. You will work closely with engineers, quality control, and production teams to troubleshoot issues, improve cycle times, and support automation initiatives. Proficiency in robotic welding platforms (such as FANUC, ABB, or Yaskawa), a solid understanding of welding processes, and the ability to read blueprints and welding symbols are essential for success in this position.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience with robot welding certification
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Programming Languages used: Motosim/Yaskawa Controller (YRC1000) – Robot Master (Offline Program Software)
  • Will be expected to pass internal Robot-Mig weld test, visual inspection of final weld quality
  • Lift operation

Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for programming & proofing 1st article weldments
  • Work with all robot operators to transfer any new technical information that has been received or learned in the shop, field or training class. Implement best practices related to robot programming and machine operation
  • Evaluate current programs and recommend path and cycle time optimizations to fabricate a quality product as quickly as feasible in a repeatable manner. Must be able to take a new or existing fixture and program a weld or fabrication path to create the intended part repeatably
  • Provide the technical expertise required for integration, programming, assistance, and service of robotic cells. Keep up to date on technical manuals
  • Keep Management informed on any open issues so they can ensure coverage on projects. Communicate with vendors and external support on problems which arise and cannot be solved internally
  • Be able to do basic preventative maintenance and other repairs on robot-driven equipment
  • Set up and run welding robots and other duties as assigned by supervisor
