We are seeking a Robotic Weld Programmer / Operator to program, set up, and run robotic welding systems for efficient, high-quality production. This role includes creating and managing weld programs, ensuring equipment operates at full capacity, interpreting blueprints, setting up machines, performing test runs, adjusting, and running production. This role requires collaboration with production control, engineering, and operations teams, along with expertise in robotic welding, metal fabrication, and troubleshooting to enhance efficiency. This position will own the manufacturing process at these work centers from start to finish, including: programming, fixturing, proving out, operating and quality inspection.

  • Develop, program, run, and optimize robotic welding operations.
  • Analyze data to determine appropriate cycles and set up time rates for the robot.
  • Modify programs as needed to comply with the latest design revisions while maintaining documentation control in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering.
  • Assist in scheduling the production of equipment.
  • Provide input on work holding and fixture designs to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Respond swiftly to machine breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within work centers.
  • Manage multiple projects effectively, adapting to changes and developing innovative solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule for robotic equipment.
  • Provide operational training for additional personnel as the department develops.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, 3D models, KAREL/Pascal code, and Word Address/Conversational programming.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Advanced mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex part drawings and specifications to optimize machine performance.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools with a fundamental understanding of fit, form, and function; knowledge of GD&T is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for accessing drawings, generating reports, and communication.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, WeldPro, or similar CAD/CAM software.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as needed to minimize machine downtime.
  • Associates of Science, technical diploma or certification in welding technology, robotics, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in robotic weld programming.
