About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform robotic machine operations; read blueprints and perform basic inspection of finished parts. Perform GMAW welding on a diversified range of standard weldments using American Welding Society welding symbols. Additionally, this person will be responsible for programming the robotic welding cell(s) and developing parameters for new or existing weldments during times when the primary programmer is unavailable.

Requirements

  • High school or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks or an equivalent 3D modeling program is preferred
  • Working knowledge of robotic weld cell offline programming is preferred (certification/training is a plus)
  • General knowledge of blueprint reading and weld symbols, work instructions, measuring tools and metal finishing tools required

Responsibilities

  • Identify and obtain welding fixtures as informed by work order/job traveler and mount them in robot cell
  • Call up the corresponding welding program and run first piece to assure conformance
  • Edit programs and make machine adjustments as necessary
  • Train robotic cell operators in accordance with TWI standard work practices
  • Perform minor welding functions (tie ins, non-accessible welds or secondary welding operations that are necessary outside the fixtures)
  • Prioritize daily work for operators and load sets parts for jobs
  • Move jobs to next operation after final inspection
  • Assume the setup and operation of robotic welding cell as production needs require or in the absence of trained staff
  • Use computer to enter production data and print identification tag for parts
  • Communicate machine down-time, shortages, scrap, delays in real time to the team captain
  • Function as the alternate/back-up programmer providing assistance to and filling in for the primary programmer as required
  • Create new, or touch up existing programs utilizing the robot teach pendant or via the offline programming software when required
  • Provide/relay updates and information between 1st and 2nd shift by spanning over both shifts on a daily basis
  • Troubleshoot programs manually at the pendant
