About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Roadway Project Engineer with preliminary and final engineering experience to lead transportation design projects across Indiana. The focus will be on INDOT and Local Public Agency projects throughout Indiana. The successful candidate will support the planning and design of roadway and expressway projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and Project Managers on INDOT and local public agency work. This position is ideal for a civil engineer who wants to take technical ownership of design tasks while growing into a technical lead on large projects and into a project management role. Besides technical abilities and familiarity with INDOT standards, the successful candidate must have the ability to work on multi-disciplinary projects, and to positively interact with clients. The annual salary range for this position is $120,000- $155,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Indiana Professional Engineer license.
  • 8-12 or more years of roadway design experience.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to organize and document engineering work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with roadway design software such as Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in INDOT and Indiana Local Public Agency projects a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop preliminary and final roadway plans, including alignments, profiles, cross sections, corridor layouts, and typical sections.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing technical reports, studies, project reports, preliminary engineering design and documentation for environmental clearances and permits.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (structures, drainage, survey, ITS and lighting) and external stakeholders to incorporate their requirements into the design.
  • Prepare design computations, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates for roadway, drainage, and related improvements.
  • Support project managers in monitoring task budgets, schedules, and deliverables, and provide status updates on assigned work.
  • Participate in occasional client or public meetings to present design information and respond to technical questions.
  • Supervise other engineers and technicians to achieve completion of projects.
