About The Position

As a roadway engineering designer, you'll support transportation improvement projects with the design and detailing of local, county, and state roadway and highway projects. You'll assist with geometric analyses and calculations using established design criteria and standard software. The roadway engineering designer reports to the project manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines.
  • Ability to handle physical demands including frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
  • Occasional operation of a company vehicle and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing typical sections, alignments, profiles, layouts, and cross-sections.
  • Support design team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for specific tasks and quantity calculations.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes and engineering practices.
  • Perform engineering calculations and estimates.
  • Collect and process data for topographic surveys and right-of-way engineering for use in design analysis.
