Responsibilities

  • Assist in various tasks including plan preparation, quantity calculation, geometric design, drainage design, MOT, specifications, cost estimates and other related tasks.
  • Perform engineering tasks related to the planning and design of transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, railroad and drainage.
  • Be part of a Design Team that produces plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for transportation construction projects.
  • Prepare engineering reports, perform engineering calculations and analysis, and furnish technical documentation for design projects.
  • Work with or preferably lead the design team in completion of technical efforts of other team members in the completion of design projects including roadway, traffic, drainage and site design projects and reports.
  • Assist or preferably lead the project management of projects both technically and financially to meet the clients' expectations in completing quality projects on-time and on budget.
  • Answer any questions and review shop drawings during the construction phase of the project.
  • Participate in business development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 0 to 3 years' professional civil engineering design experience.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and various engineering software systems.
  • Experience with MicroStation/InRoads; Open Roads Design.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO & GDOT plan preparation requirements for roadway projects.
  • Competent in reading plans and shop drawings, and in evaluating contractor compliance with construction plans and specifications.
  • Team-oriented engineer with strong communication skills, well organized with good time management practices.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

  • Experience with GA Municipalities preferred.
