About The Position

This position can work out of any of the following offices: Chicago, Peoria, IL, or Crown Point, IN. The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. A Roadway Engineer IV is a licensed professional who may work on several projects at one time. Tasks performed require broad knowledge of fundamentals relating to design and/or construction while under some direction, but no immediate supervision is needed. An Engineer IV may be assigned to assist in developing preliminary engineering studies and reports, preparing design plans and specifications, leading a field inspection, or serving on a construction site as a Construction Engineer.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineering license (preferred).
  • Maintain licensure through continuing education.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with other team members and managers.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation of performing job responsibilities.
  • Complies with accepted professional and safety standards and practice.
  • Approximately 6-10 years of experience in engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from accredited school.
  • Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding the work assigned to them and for completing assigned tasks with or without assigned staff.
  • Supervise the work of other team members under their direction.
  • Coordinate through verbal and written communication the work of other team members, other consultants, and with the client.
  • Responsible for the quality of their work as well as assigned staff and meeting the budgeted and scheduled timeframe to complete an assignment.
  • Make calculations and run models necessary to perform assignment in a format that can easily be checked by others.
  • Discuss with supervisors any conflicting timeframes to timely completion of various assignments.
  • Coordinate work activities with other staff members assigned to a project.
  • Maintain proper filing, calculations, documentation, and drawing conventions/standards as established by Ciorba Group.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer for design and work efficiently in various software programs including CADD.
  • Perform a thorough review of work before turning in assignment to supervisor.
  • Maintain Professional Engineering (PE) license(s), fulfilling continuing education and other requirements.
  • Become involved in professional organizations.
  • Maintain assigned billability rate and work overtime as directed by supervisor on an as needed basis.
  • Potentially serve as an assigned mentor to an Engineer I ,II, or III.
