Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Roadway Designer to use MicroStation/GeoPak, Corridor Modeling, and Open Roads Designer to design roads/highways, municipal streets, and pedestrian facilities in our Raleigh, NC office.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering with 1-3 years of progressive transportation design experience or AAS in Civil Engineering with 3-5 years of progressive transportation design experience
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information from multiple sources to complete assigned tasks/projects
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work productively with limited direct oversight and management
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, meticulous, and able to meet project-specific standards and timelines
  • Ability to collaborate

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is preferred
  • Understanding of design principles, standards, and practices
  • Experience with NCDOT design standards and practices is preferred
  • Proficient with MicroStation/GeoPak preferred
  • Proficient with Corridor Modeling, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Use project specifications, detailed drawings, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
  • Perform calculations, prepare material and specifications, and provide preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
  • Work closely with engineer/project managers to obtain project information, recommend changes, and ensure drawings are accurate and complete.
