About The Position

We are seeking a Roadway Design Engineer to lead and deliver complex roadway design projects, supporting the development of safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation infrastructure. This role blends strong technical expertise in roadway engineering with project leadership and client coordination responsibilities. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in roadway and highway design, geometric layout, and drainage coordination, as well as a deep understanding of transportation standards and permitting requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and public or private sector clients to deliver high -quality design solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in roadway and highway design, with at least 3 years in a project leadership or management capacity.
  • Proficiency with roadway design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of FDOT standards, design manuals, and permitting processes.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary design efforts and managing complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high -quality, constructible, and cost -effective design solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and production of roadway and highway design projects for municipal, state, or private sector clients.
  • Develop detailed roadway design plans, including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross -sections, grading, drainage, and pavement design.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality control throughout the design and delivery process.
  • Coordinate with traffic, structural, drainage, and utility engineers, as well as planners and permitting agencies.
  • Ensure all design work complies with applicable federal, state (e.g., FDOT), and local standards, manuals, and specifications.
  • Prepare construction documents, quantities, and cost estimates in accordance with agency and client requirements.
  • Serve as a technical leader and primary client contact—building strong relationships, anticipating client needs, and ensuring project satisfaction.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting continuous learning and technical development.
  • Contribute to proposal writing, scope definition, and business development efforts.
