We are currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer Project Manager - to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Charlotte, NC office.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors degree in civil engineering required.
  • P.E. license required, North Carolina PE is preferred.
  • Successful candidates will be expected to get their NC PE within the first year of hire.
  • Qualifications: At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering is required, 5 years of project management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working on DOT design projects is required, experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.
  • Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM and Project Management software experience ispreferred.
  • MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil-3D software experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects.
  • Point person and firms contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
  • Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
  • Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Has a basic understanding of what the other transportation disciplines do and what they require as part of specific projects.
  • Responsible for the nine knowledge areas, according to the Project Management Institute (PMI), that are associated with each phase of the project they are managing including: Project Integration Management Project Scope Management Project Time Management Project Cost Management Project Quality Management Project Human Resource Management Project Communications Management Project Risk Management Project Procurement Management
  • Responsible for assisting the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
  • On larger projects, PM may or may not be involved directly in the design.
  • Apprise Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects.
  • Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects so they can manage staffing.
  • Assist in informal development of other employees.
