Your Opportunity Stantec’s Upstate New York Transportation group has an immediate need for talented, team focused Civil Engineer EITs with 0-3 years of experience in specialty areas including roadway/highway design, traffic control & construction staging design, right-of-way engineering, access design, and utility engineering. The position is for our Albany, NY office. This position is for individuals looking to challenge themselves on a professional level on a variety of transportation projects ranging from local roads and complete streets to major interstates to shared use paths and trails. Requirements

  • Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design.
  • Basic understanding of MicroStation, In Roads, Open Roads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D with experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
  • Civil engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized community or technical college or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in engineering consulting or construction industry.
  • Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
  • Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge of general concepts of engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects that focus on transportation systems such as highways, streets, drainage structures, utilities, traffic signals and roadway lighting.
  • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design engineering system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Assist team in preparing engineering designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions
  • Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.
  • Assists the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
  • Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
