About The Position

The position involves operating tow trucks or light service vehicles to provide Emergency Road Service (ERS) to AAA members as requested. The role includes receiving call information from the Customer Interaction Center, responding to the scene of disablement, identifying problems, verifying AAA membership, and providing various services such as tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing, and lockout service. The position also requires conducting pre and post-trip DOT checklists, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, tracking daily activities, and ensuring a safe driving record. The employee may also provide support at special events.

Requirements

  • Possession of high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license with minimal driving infractions.
  • If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver’s license.
  • Successfully complete drug screening, MVR, criminal background check, and DOT health screenings.
  • Customer service experience with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate a full-size or mini service van or tow truck.
  • Ability to lift material weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Ability to utilize GPS and maps to locate member breakdown locations.
  • Ability to read and interpret AAA emergency road service rules and benefits.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience servicing vehicles such as providing fuel, testing batteries, and changing tires.
  • Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience.
  • Commercial driving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operates tow trucks or light service vehicles to provide Emergency Road Service (ERS) to AAA members.
  • Receives call information from the Customer Interaction Center and responds to the scene of disablement.
  • Identifies the problem and verifies possession of a valid AAA membership card.
  • Provides services including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing, jumpstarts, installations, and lockout service.
  • Arranges for or tows vehicles that cannot be started or are unsafe to drive.
  • Conducts pre and post-trip DOT checklists documenting vehicle issues or maintenance requirements.
  • Cleans the service vehicle regularly.
  • Tracks and records daily activities by completing call logs, vehicle logs, and receipts.
  • Utilizes a tablet or electronic device to update calls and review procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and acceptable driving record and DOT certification.
  • Reports all driving infractions to management.
  • Responsible for maintaining acceptable goals related to member satisfaction and safety.
  • May provide support at special events.
