About The Position

The Road Supervisor is responsible for overseeing street operations to ensure adherence to schedules, route consistency, and on-time performance (OTP) metrics. This role involves conducting systematic site checks and road observations, managing service continuity by implementing rerouting strategies in response to traffic congestion, construction, or emergencies, and optimizing vehicle readiness through rigorous "gate checks" and coordinating vehicle change-outs with Dispatch and Maintenance teams. A critical aspect of the position is safety, compliance, and risk mitigation, which includes acting as the primary on-site lead for accidents and incidents, managing the scene, collecting data, and coordinating service resumption. The supervisor also oversees post-accident protocols, verifies operator fitness for duty, ensures valid licensing/certifications, and performs detailed safety audits such as wheelchair securement and vehicle cleanliness inspections. Additionally, the supervisor will cross-train with safety training and operations managers to ensure comprehensive knowledge of MV company policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Proven track record in passenger transportation, ideally within the current project scope or a high-volume transit environment.
  • Must demonstrate an impeccable safety record and a history of superior customer service delivery.
  • In-depth understanding of State and Federal transportation regulations, DOT compliance, and corporate safety policies.
  • Strong familiarity with the local service area, including route geography, traffic patterns, and client-specific performance benchmarks.
  • Working knowledge of project-specific vehicle components, onboard data/communication technologies, and GPS tracking systems.
  • Ability to master and apply local contract requirements and operational SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Proven ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure, with the capacity to manage emergency situations and field incidents effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills; ability to distill complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with Dispatch, Maintenance, and Safety teams.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of objectivity, maintaining accountability in field observations and reporting.

  • Previous experience in transportation field supervision or operational training is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Real-Time Operations: Supervise street operations to ensure strict adherence to schedules, route consistency, and contractual on-time performance (OTP) metrics.
  • Conduct Field Inspections: Execute systematic site checks and road observations in alignment with client protocols; document findings and deliver comprehensive reports to project leadership.
  • Manage Service Continuity: Proactively identify and implement rerouting strategies in response to traffic congestion, construction, or emergencies to minimize service gaps.
  • Optimize Vehicle Readiness: Conduct rigorous "gate checks" during pull-out and pull-in cycles to verify manifest accuracy and the completion of pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Field Support: Facilitate seamless vehicle change-outs in coordination with Dispatch and Maintenance teams to maintain fleet availability.
  • Incident & Accident Response: Act as the primary on-site lead for accidents and incidents; manage the scene, collect critical data, and coordinate with operations to resume service swiftly while minimizing passenger impact.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Oversee post-accident protocols, including accompanying operators to medical facilities and ensuring the integrity of DOT-mandated drug and alcohol testing.
  • Personnel Readiness: Verify that all operators are fit for duty, possess valid licensing/certifications, and adhere to professional uniform and equipment standards.
  • Safety Auditing: Perform detailed wheelchair securement audits and vehicle cleanliness inspections to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
  • Cross Training: Train with safety training manager and operations manager to ensure knowledge of MV company policies.
