About The Position

Road Mechanic – Construction Equipment Poughkeepsie, NY Pay: $56.01/hour Benefits: UNION Shop! $5K Sign-On Bonus Pension, welfare, annuity, and vacation fund Medical/dental/vision insurance Paid company holidays Key qualifications: Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy construction equipment; Caterpillar (CAT) equipment experience strongly preferred Computer proficiency required, including the ability to run diagnostic software and complete service documentation and communications Must have strong communication skills and have a high level of self-management Clean & valid driver’s license required, CDL license preferred

Requirements

Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy construction equipment; Caterpillar (CAT) equipment experience strongly preferred
Computer proficiency required, including the ability to run diagnostic software and complete service documentation and communications
Must have strong communication skills and have a high level of self-management
Clean & valid driver’s license required, CDL license preferred

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot problems
Efficiently utilize resources to correct problems
Document steps taken to correct problems
Plan proper repair procedures for efficiency
Efficiently utilize tooling and technical resources
Continually improve key processes
Effectively communicate status of repair work with supervisor
Represent H.O. Penn in a positive, professional manner
Communicate customers’ options to correct current problems
Advise customer of cost of repair and collect payment as required
Be an active part in the continuous improvement of H.O. Penn’s safety culture
Timely completion of any required safety training for self
Adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies
Understand job risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate those risks, such as wearing all required personal protective equipment as required by task
