Job Summary: The Road Engineer II safely operates the company’s locomotives at a high skill and safety level, also responsible for their care and operation with or without a train. Requirements
- Must have a current Conductor or Engineer certificate. Yard or Road is sufficient.
- Must have completed all qualified conductor or engineer training.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a Locomotive Engineer or Conductor.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
Responsibilities
- Fully understand and support Xanterra’s Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values.
- Completes responsibilities in a manner that will ensure the safety of passengers, employees and the general public at an efficient cost to the company.
- Safely operates diesel locomotives and related equipment.
- Oversees train crew members when the Conductor is not available.
- Communicates effectively and intelligently (train announcements, reports, written items, face-to-face, telephonically and over the radio) with the public, passengers, potential passengers, business associates, and company employees to work effectively with others.
- Works safely with little or no direct supervision and in any weather conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
