About The Position

This Pre-Admission Testing RNII position involves working with patients in their pre-surgical experience prior to the day of surgery. The role includes patient assessment, coordination of necessary services, and pre-op teaching for various types of surgery. The RNII is also responsible for medical review of charts and resolving diagnostic test issues before surgery, interfacing daily with physicians, their office staff, and the anesthesia department. St. Peter's offers 13 surgical services, including General, Thoracic, Cardiac, Genito-Urinary, Pediatric, Maxillofacial, Orthopedic, Plastic, Neurological, Anesthesia, Gynecological, Otolaryngological, Ophthalmological, and Vascular procedures. Nurses in this role receive comprehensive orientation, on-site BLS classes, and ongoing clinical education. The staff is actively involved in quality improvement, program development, recognition, and team building, with a clinical ladder program supporting professional growth through mentoring, leadership opportunities, and educational funding.

Requirements

  • Current NYS RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in ACUTE care nursing

Nice To Haves

  • ASN, BSN preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with patients in their pre-surgical experience prior to the day of surgery
