Requirements

• Documented completion of RNFA program (exception: CRNFA certified prior to 1998).
• One year of general nursing experience in an acute care setting.
• Current Florida RN license required.

Nice To Haves

• Five years of nursing experience in the required specialty.
• CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon in performing surgical procedures.
• Plan, administer, and/or supervise nursing activities on the operative patient.
• Maintain a safe and aseptic environment during surgery.
• Adhere to the Adventist Health System Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with the surgeon to ensure a safe operating environment with optimal outcomes for the patient.
• Practice peri-operative nursing under the supervision of the surgeon during the intra-operative phase.
• Function in the scrub or circulating role when not assigned to FA duties.
• Utilize knowledge and skills in providing safe and effective nursing care.
• Carry out activities delegated by the physician concerning medications, treatment, and diagnostic measures.
• Know available supplies and equipment and their use within the OR suite.
• Care for specimens properly and handle their disposition according to hospital/lab policy.
• Prepare and maintain sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.
• Assist with cleaning of rooms, restocking, and updating supplies.
• Maintain thorough and complete records of each patient's procedure according to established standards of care and document in electronic medical record.
