Requirements

  • ADN or BSN degree
  • Valid licensure
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention with psychiatric patients.
  • Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side effects.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility to other staff and monitor their performance.
  • Ability to safely implement emergency behavioral interventions

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and provides compassionate care.
  • Provides leadership and direction to Mental Health Workers and LVNs.
  • Administers medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner.
  • Provides structure to and assists in maintaining the therapeutic milieu.
  • Documents nursing care and treatment progression in the progress notes using the multi-disciplinary treatment plan.
  • Implements nursing and milieu care. Oversight and management of therapeutic milieu.
  • Assesses, intervenes and directs staff in psychiatric and/or medical crisis situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
