As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. You will also secure patient travel, understand patient needs in healthcare, help patients, and prevent issues. You must follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Accredited Program with a specialized field of study in nursing.
  • Current RN license.
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines relevant to the area.
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Recognize health issues and create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes.
  • Assess patient responses and document learning needs regularly.
  • Secure patient travel and understand patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues.
  • Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies, ensuring careful delegation and prompt follow-up.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create comprehensive care plans.
  • Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers' development and community service commitment.
