About The Position

The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across all age groups, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role operates within the established policies and procedures of the organization, emphasizing professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is also responsible for upholding standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities among assigned staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support
  • For Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification (to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Critical Care: ACLS Certification (to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification (to be completed within 180 Days of start date; experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification)
  • For Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification (prior to independent chemotherapy administration)
  • For Pediatrics: PALS Certification (required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital, to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Pediatrics: PEARS or PALS Certification (required at Piedmont Athens Hospital, to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Surgical Services (PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU): ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Surgical Services (OR): BLS required only (to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Women’s Services (Labor and Delivery): ACLS Certification (to be completed within 180 Days of start date)
  • For Women’s Services (Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU, NAT, Nursery): NRP by the end of orientation period
  • For Women’s Services (Labor and Delivery): AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program (within 12 months of start date)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • For Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate)

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Demonstrates professional growth and accountability
  • Responsible for maintaining standards of practice
  • Coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care
  • Identifies, reports and provides appropriate protective measures for high risk situations including, but not limited to, abuse or neglect, failure to thrive and potential for abduction (for Pediatrics specialty)
