About The Position

Overview Northern Arizona Healthcare is hiring for RN's to join our amazing nursing team at our Flagstaff Medical Center location! We are looking for Nurses for the following specialties: Critical Care Progressive Care Medical Intensive Care Surgical Trauma ICU CVICU Cardiology Cath Lab Cardiology Medical/Surgical/Telemetry: Including the below specialties Flex Pool Neuro/Stroke Ortho / Spine Ortho / Joint Cardiac Renal/Hospice Emergency Department Surgical Services Operating Room Endoscopy PACU CVOR Oncology Peds/PICU Labor Delivery & Post Partum Special Care Nursery Ensuring the achievement of Northern Arizona Healthcare’s mission, the Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of care for patients and their families including direct care, patient and family education and discharge planning. When providing care, Registered Nurses follow the process of assessing, nursing diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing and evaluation as the basis for the delivery of care. The Registered Nurse provides leadership for ancillary personnel by being a team leader, serving as a preceptor, and being an active member of the health care team. The nurse practices within the ENA and the ANA Scope of Practice, the ENA and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the standards of his/ or her specialty.

Requirements

RNs hired on or after 7/1/2016: Must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years of hire into an RN position.
Existing Staff RNs: RNs hired before 7/1/2016 are not mandated to have a BSN, but are encouraged to pursue a BSN degree.
Active, unrestricted, Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license- Required
BLS- Required upon hire
ACLS- Required upon hire
Other certifications may be required in specialty departments
Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.

Responsibilities

Patient Care Completes chart audits ensuring accuracy and documents changes.
Completes nursing assessment for new patients (prepares charts, enters patient history in the EMR, and verifies medications).
Updates patient care records.
Implements corrective actions based on the recognition of changes in patient's condition.
Knowledge of IV and/or oral chemotherapy medications that may be prescribed.
Interprets basic laboratory and diagnostic data and communicates results to physician for follow-up/intervention.
Demonstrates accuracy of documentation of assessments, interventions and patient responses.
Utilizes the pain scale in assessing patient's pain and documents interventions and progress.
Functions as a part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and concerns.
Documents patients on concurrent treatment and communicates to the appropriate staff.
Coordinates Brachy Therapy procedures with physicians offices and OR scheduling.
Is responsible for patient teaching for pre-op and post-op follow up instructions.
Maintains open interactions with various internals department, outside agencies, patients and their families.
Event Participation and Coordination Participates in Cancer Center sponsored community health screenings and events.
Compliance/Safety Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Remains current on radiation oncology and medical oncology practices.
