As a direct patient care provider, the role involves assessing patients' biopsychosocial needs in an age-appropriate manner and with a knowledge of patient growth and development. The position requires developing a plan of care and communicating it to other members of the health care team. Responsibilities include administering and delivering the plan of care, evaluating outcomes, and modifying the plan as necessary. The role also involves educating patients and families on the plan of care and their responsibilities, collaborating with all members of the health care team, providing clinical supervision to appropriate health care team members, documenting all information applicable to patient care, and maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
