About The Position

The Wound/Ostomy Nurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers. The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law. Utilizing organizational resources, the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Network reflects the missions, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments. Serves as a resource for nursing staff and other health care professionals regarding wound/ostomy/skin management and care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • At least 2 years Med/Surg Experience
  • Registered Nurse Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS is required.
  • Communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Experienced and able to work independently
  • Prioritization and patient triage
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, acute hospital environment
  • Patience and Empathy
  • Wound/Ostomy certification preferred at hire – if not, required to obtain within 3 years of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred (will consider qualified candidate working toward BSN completion – must be completed within 5 years of hire)
  • Previous wound/ostomy experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with EPIC charting preferred
  • Patient teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities
