The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence care at the Vermillion Medical Center, a 25 bed hospital. The role involves caring for patients with wound, ostomy, and/or continence needs, and requires knowledge and skills in consulting, following, and developing care protocols for both pediatrics and adults. The general schedule is Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, and the position is full-time with a work shift during the day.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred.
• Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing.
• Obtains and maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• Completion of Wound, Ostomy, and/or Continence Nursing Education Program.
• Certification as a Wound and Ostomy Nurse through the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (CWON) and/or (CWOCN).

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients with wound, ostomy, and/or continence needs.
• Consults, follows, and develops care protocols for pediatrics and adults.
• Serves as a clinical resource and consultant to patient care staff.
• Demonstrates excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.
• Coordinates care, conducts patient assessments, and provides patient education.
• Collaborates with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
• Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act.
