Cleveland Clinic’s Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) Nursing department provides specialized care and education to patients before and after ostomy surgery. This department supports patients in managing their stomas, improving quality of life and addressing questions or concerns until patients are confident in their self-care. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider licensed military RN experience.
  • Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse (CWOCN) - Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board or within 24 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Three to five years of experience in wound care.
  • Skilled in assessing wounds in various stages of injury and healing.
  • Ability to provide treatment plans and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
  • Validate and document patient and family understanding of teaching.
