About The Position

Manages women's services activities, workflow and nursing resources. The role involves collecting and analyzing pertinent health data to develop and implement an individualized plan of care that includes interventions and alternatives to attain expected, measurable outcomes for women and newborns in the context of woman, newborn, and family-centered care. The position requires coordination of care delivery to promote woman-, newborn-, and family-centered care within their scope of practice, employing health teaching strategies that promote, maintain, or restore health within a safe environment. The nurse will evaluate the progress toward expected outcomes, make ethical decisions on behalf of women, fetuses, and newborns, and communicate effectively with families and healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification.
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in the state of work location.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and analyzes pertinent health data to develop and implement an individualized plan of care.
  • Coordinates care delivery to promote woman-, newborn-, and family-centered care.
  • Employs health teaching strategies that promote, maintain, or restore health.
  • Evaluates the progress toward attainment of expected outcomes.
  • Determines decisions and actions on behalf of women, fetuses, and newborns in an ethical manner.
  • Practices in a manner congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Communicates and collaborates with women, families, health care providers, and the community.
  • Serves as a role model, change agent, consultant, and mentor.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge and competencies reflecting current evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Generates or integrates evidence to improve quality of nursing practice.
  • Evaluates own nursing practice and participates in the evaluation of others.
  • Considers resource factors related to safety, effectiveness, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
  • Applies evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
