About The Position

A Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care and assessment to long-term and rehabilitation residents. A Registered Nurse may supervise duties performed by LPNs and CNAs in a team care setting under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, and Director of Nursing.

Requirements

Degree from an accredited school of nursing
Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York requires
Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
Strong customer service skills and compassion

Nice To Haves

Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred

Responsibilities

Work closely with RN Supervisor to ensure the best possible functions of the assigned unit
Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
Prepares and administers, and records prescribed medications
Records patients’ medical information and vital signs
Assesses the patient's ability to do routine daily tasks
Recognizes and manages geriatric syndromes common to older adults, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, hematological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, neurological, psychiatric/psychosocial, integumentary, sensory, and pain problems
Prepares equipment and aids the physician during the examination and treatment of the patient
Communicate with family members regarding patient
Records all care information concisely, accurately, and promptly in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting
