The RN Weekend Warrior is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents or patients during weekend shifts in a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. This position is ideal for Registered Nurses who prefer weekend shifts and want flexibility in their schedule. The RN Weekend Warrior plays a key role in assessing patient needs, developing care plans, administering treatments, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the well-being and safety of all residents during the weekend. Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Care: Perform comprehensive assessments of residents’ physical, emotional, and mental health during weekend shifts. Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans based on patient assessments and needs. Administer medications, treatments, and other nursing interventions as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with facility protocols. Monitor and document patient progress, reporting any significant changes in condition to physicians or the healthcare team. Medication Administration: Safely administer medications and monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects. Ensure proper documentation of all medication administration in accordance with regulatory and facility standards. Follow established protocols to ensure residents receive the right medications at the right time. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient care, treatments, and progress in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures, related to nursing care and patient safety. Participate in the handover process between shifts, ensuring that incoming nursing staff are updated on the status of residents and any care changes. Resident and Family Support: Provide compassionate care and support to residents, addressing their emotional and physical needs. Communicate with residents' families to keep them informed about their loved ones’ health status, treatments, and any changes in care plans. Advocate for residents' rights and preferences, ensuring that their dignity and personal choices are respected. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and other members of the healthcare team to provide coordinated care. Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers during weekend shifts, ensuring smooth transitions for residents. Participate in care planning meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions when necessary. Emergency Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies, providing life-saving interventions such as CPR or first aid when needed. Ensure that residents' safety is a top priority, following infection control protocols and safety measures at all times.
