About The Position

JOB SUMMARY The RN - Week Day - Operating Room is responsible for the direct total nursing care of patient while in PACU during the immediate post-operative phase. The OR staff nurse coordinates total nursing care pre, intra-op and postoperatively for patients, participates in patient/family pre-op teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice. Monitor and continually assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • One year recent operating room registered nursing experience. If training position, one year recent hospital clinical registered nursing experience.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines and be a quality performer.
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service and professional conduct.
  • Must be a quality performer.
  • Possesses the ability to work under pressure, tension, and stress.
  • The ability to coordinate care by a variety of health team members is a must.
  • Able to pass the unit specific medication exam with 80% or higher within 3 months of orientation.
  • Must have the ability to assess patient for pain and maintain hemodynamic and neurological stability.
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusion or approaches to problems.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
  • BCLS required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must pass unit-specific medication exam with 80% or higher within the first three months of orientation on the unit.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • One year recent PACU experience.
  • Experience in surgical procedures and recovery.
  • ACLS certification
  • CPAN certification
  • CNOR certification
